BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The opportunity council's annual "Dine Out for Maple Alley Inn" event last month raised over $21,000 to help provide hot meals for local people in need.
The agency announced Monday that 44 local restaurants donated 20 percent of their sales on May 1st to Maple Alley Inn.
Cascade Radio Group was among the sponsors of the event. Anjali Englund with the Opportunity Council says Maple Alley Inn served more than 11,000 meals last year.
She says restaurants were able to beat last year's "dine out" donations thanks to everyone who participated in the event.
Maple Alley Inn serves hot lunches at Faith Lutheran Church on McLeod Road in Bellingham on Wednesday and Thursday.
They also serve breakfast on Tuesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Walnut Street in Bellingham.
People can donate to Maple Alley Inn all year by going to www.oppco.org.
