Bellingham Man Guilty Of Murder

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The jury returns a guilty verdict for the Bellingham man accused of murdering his estranged wife with a shotgun.

Whatcom County prosecutor David McEachran says Keayn Dunya was convicted yesterday of first-degree murder in the death of Kriston Peterman-Dunya last Fourth of July.

McEachran says though the case was complicated, evidence gathered in the investigation pointed to Dunya.

Dunya faces 25-30 years in prison.

McEachran says he believed the motive was a problem marriage and a child custody battle.

Dunya’s girlfriend at the time of the murder, Kara Buchanan, testified against Dunya in exchange for a plea deal.

She’s finishing up a one year sentence for rendering criminal assistance.
