Cantwell Seeks Investigation Of Gasoline Prices

WASHINGTON D.C  (Metro)  -- Washington Senator Maria Cantwell wants an investigation of the dramatic spike in West Coast gasoline prices following the fire that put the Cherry Point refinery temporarily out of commission.

A "McClatchy Newspapers" article in "The Bellingham Herald" says Cantwell and an energy consulting firm say other West Coast oil refiners cut production after the fire, creating a supply shortage.

Refiners insist that the production cuts were for regular scheduled maintenance.
