State Senator Calling Governor’s Efforts Hypocrisy

OLYMPIA, Wash.  (Metro)  -- With Washington now officially boasting the highest gas prices in the nation, a state senator from Ferndale is calling the governor’s efforts on the issue ‘hipocrisy.’

Republican Doug Ericksen says Chris Gregoire sent letters to refineries last week asking them to take measures to lower prices – but he says that’s not her record.

Ericksen says to bring gas prices down, our region needs more refining capacity and more pipelines to bring oil into the area, but he says Gregoire has a history of opposing such expansion.

The state average yesterday was $4.28 per gallon for regular. California's is $4.24 per gallon.

The average price in Missouri is just $3.31 per gallon.
