Country star Joe Nichols "cried like a little girl" when his daughter was born in April after his wife struggled to become a mom for five years.

Heather Nichols recently opened up about their secret heartache, revealing she suffered five miscarriages as a result of two undiagnosed genetic blood disorders.

She managed to successfully carry her newborn girl Dylan River to term and Nichols admits he was overcome with emotion as he witnessed his child's birth.

Appearing on "The View" on Friday, he said, "The first time I saw her was just amazing, the joy... That's the first thing I thought of, like, 'This is the most exciting moment of my life.'"

"I looked at Heather and... I could see her crying and her face was just exploding with joy. I cried like a little girl. I kinda made a fool out of myself in the delivery room."

Nichols isn't new to fatherhood - he also has a teenage daughter from a previous relationship.
