New Electric Charge Stations: Mayor Attends Ribbon Cutting

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Bellingham Mayor Kelli Linville and State Transportation officials attended a ribbon-cutting for a new electric vehicle charging station at Sehome Village yesterday.

It's one of ten new charging stations in Washington thanks to a partnership between the State Department of Transportation and electric charging station developer Aero-Vironment.

State Secretary of Transportation Paula Hammond says the state-of-the-art stations can fully-charge an electric vehicle battery in less than 30 minutes.

She says Washington is also partnering with Oregon and California to private developers build a dependable network of vehicle charging stations along the entire Interstate 5 corridor.
