BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- An attempt to form a union by workers at a big Bellingham employer has failed.
Employees at Heath Tecna, an aircraft interior systems manufacturer with a facility in the Barkley area, held an election yesterday to join the international association of machinists District 160.
Dan Morgan with the union says the workers first contacted the National Labor Relations Board over some problems with their employer.
He says a majority of workers at Heath Tecna signed a petition last month to hold the vote to join the union.
Yesterday, 60 percent of the 289 employees who cast ballots voted in favor of having no union.
Morgan says the employees now have to wait one year before they can hold another election to form a union.
