Removal Of Sunken Vessel In Penn Cove To Start Soon

WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Washington's Department of Natural Resources and four other agencies say they're getting ready to remove the fishing vessel Deep Sea from where it sank recently in Penn Cove on Whidbey Island.

Crews are already working to prevent hazardous liquids from escaping from the ship, which is settling in deep mud and getting harder to raise.

It is asking the vessel's owner to pick up salvage costs.
