13-Year-Old Boy Describes Ordeal At Wallace Falls

BURIEN, Wash.  (Metro)  -- A 13-year-old Burien boy is amazed at how close he came to being sucked over the main falls in the Wallace River near Gold Bar.

William Hickman nearly went over the 270 ft. waterfall Saturday afternoon after slipping and going over the edge of the ten-foot upper falls into a deep pool that leads to the main Wallace Falls.

Hickman tells KING 5 News he thought he was going to die and knew that he had to get to shore or be swept over the drop.

Snohomish County sheriff's rescuers finally pulled Hickman to safety at about 1:30 Sunday morning.
