Ohio State’s Meyer says BCS ‘a flawed system’

RUSTY MILLER, AP Sports Writer
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State’s national-championship hopes rest with the Bowl Championship Series.

That is little consolation to Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer.

With his team ranked No. 3 in the BCS — far behind Alabama and Florida State and barely ahead of Baylor — it’s clear Meyer won’t shed any tears when the BCS falls by the wayside later this year and is replaced by a four-team playoff in 2014.

Meyer called the BCS “a flawed system” and said that it was great “for a while.”

If neither of the top two loses before the last BCS rankings on Dec. 8, the Buckeyes will likely be shut out of the race for No. 1.

Ohio State carries a nation’s best 22-game win streak into Saturday’s final home game, against Indiana.
