WCSO: Man in custody after attempting to kill woman near Blaine

BLAINE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man is in custody after attempting to kill a woman near Blaine.

Whatcom County Undersheriff Steve Harris says that the woman was dropped off at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center on Tuesday morning, Aug. 20 with significant injuries.

The suspect, identified as a 43-year-old man, made comments to Bellingham Police officers about how he had attempted to kill the victim earlier that day.

Deputies were granted a search warrant for a home in the Birch Bay/Blaine area, where blood was found in a garage. Firearms and other evidence were also recovered from the crime scene.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office said they will release additional information on the attempted murder later in the day on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
