SUMAS, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Reese Hill Road in Sumas will see daily road closures this week.

The Washington state Department of Transportation (WSDOT) says Reese Hill Road, also known as SR 547, will be closed in both directions from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sept. 19.

Maintenance crews will install 2,400 large rocks and 10 trees with root balls to stabilize an eroded bank along Saar Creek near the highway. WSDOT says the trees and rocks will help realign the creek and protect the highway while also preserving the health of the creek.

Northbound travelers will be detoured west on South Pass Road to northbound SR 9 toward Sumas.

Southbound travelers should use Telegraph and Morgan roads, southbound SR 9 and Mount Baker Highway to access Kendall and Maple Falls.
