BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A federal lawsuit filed against the Bellingham School District has been dismissed after both parties reached a settlement.

U.S. District Judge Kymberly Evanson ordered the case be dismissed on Oct. 2, adding that the case cannot be refiled.

The case was brought by a former Squalicum High School student who was sexually assaulted by another student in 2021. They claimed that three vice principals neglected to report the assaults to authorities as mandated state reporters.

Criminal charges against the administrators were dropped by the Whatcom County Superior Court last December.
