Bellingham man sentenced to prison for child sexual abuse

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Bellingham man found guilty of sexually assaulting a family member has been sentenced.

57-year-old Iran Ohumukini was sentenced to over 15 and a half years in prison on Oct. 4. He pled guilty in July to child molestation and two counts of child rape.

The victim disclosed the abuse to investigators in June 2022, saying the assaults had been going on for several years.

Following his sentence, he will be under community supervision for three years and will be required to register as a sex offender.

He was transferred to a Washington State Department of Corrections facility from the Whatcom County Jail on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
