John Travolta’s epic Oscar blunder

John Travolta’s epic Oscar blunder

WHAT'S HER NAME?: Idina Menzel performs on stage during the Oscars at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 2, in Los Angeles. Menzel gave a rousing performance of her hit "Let It Go," but her name was butchered in the intro by John Travolta. Photo: Associated Press/ John Shearer/Invision/

The marketing team behind Idina Menzel’s new Broadway show have capitalized on John Travolta’s botched pronunciation of her name at the Oscars in a new social media campaign.

The “Pulp Fiction” star caused a frenzy when he stumbled over Menzel’s name as he introduced her performance of “Let It Go” at the Academy Awards on Sunday night.

However, the marketing team for her new musical “If/Then” are taking advantage of Travolta’s mistake with new ads posted on the show’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, which have the tagline: “You Know Her Name”, along with a photo of Menzel belting out the Oscar-winning tune during the ceremony.

“If/Then,” which marks Menzel’s first time on Broadway since her Tony Award-winning turn in Wicked almost 10 years ago, opens in New York City on Wednesday.
