NEW YORK (AP) — Carmelo Anthony will be available when the NBA’s free-agent signing period begins July 1.

A person with knowledge of the details says the New York Knicks forward filed the paperwork on Friday to opt out of his current contract and test the free-agent market.

Teams such as Chicago, Houston, Dallas and Miami have been mentioned as potential suitors for the two-time Olympic gold medalist who led the NBA in scoring in 2012-13.
