11 times we wish we could have sat courtside with Jack Nicholson

JACK NICHOLSON: Actor Jack Nicholson tosses basketball back to referee prior to start of second half action on Wednesday, May 5, 1977 between the Los Angeles Lakers and San Francisco Golden State Warriors NBA playoff game in Los Angeles. Nicholson, a loyal fan who comes to many of the Lakers games, was very pleased at half-time as the Lakers came from 14 points behind to go ahead by two and later won the game 97-84. The Lakers won the nest of seven games 4-3 and met Portland Friday in the Western NBA playoffs. (AP Photo/IM) Photo: Associated Press

Jack Nicholson is almost as good at being a basketball fan as he is an actor. In honor of his 77th birthday, here’s just a few of the times we wish we could have been sitting courtside at the Lakers with the screen legend.

That time in 1982 when he had lunch with then head coach Pat Riley and the entire Lakers team.

In 1996 when actress Sharon Stone joined Nicholson in his courtside seats to watch the Denver Nuggets take on the Lakers.

Watching the Sacramento Kings take on L.A. with Sean Penn and Jack would have been pretty sweet.

Or that time in 1999 when Former NBA superstar Michael Jordan laughed it up with actor Nicholson prior to start of Lakers’ game against the Houston Rockets. You know, just a normal day.

Watching the 2000 NBA Finals would have been pretty “alright, alright, alright” if you got to sit next to Nicholson and his guest, actor Matthew McConaughey.

The following year you could have watched the NBA Finals with Jack and his friend, actress Lara Flynn Boyle.

Watching the Lakers take on the Bulls would be a laugh riot if you were sitting next to Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson.

But it’d probably be even funnier if you were sitting next to Chris Rock and Jack Nicholson.

In 2006 Nicholson took talk show host Regis Philbin to a game against the New Orleans Hornets.

Talk about star-studded. Academy Award winning actors Nicholson and Morgan Freeman enjoyed the Lakers game against the Milwaukee Bucks at the Staples Center in 2006.

What we wouldn’t give to be privy to these courtside conversations: Nicholson and Joe Pesci sharing laughs during the first half of the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors in 2009.
