The GNAC champion Vikings advance to the semifinal round today of the West Regional and will face No. 3-seed Northwest Nazarene in a rematch of the top two teams in the GNAC from the regular season. They will battle the Crusaders NCAA Division II Championships West Regional at 5pm PT in the Van Dyne Gymnasium on the California Baptist University campus.

WWU won its regional tournament opener yesterday in Riverside, California beating Alaska Anchorage 3-1. NNU beat Central Washington 3-2 in the first quarterfinal match. WWU and NNU both split two match-ups this season.

The 19-match winning streak is 4th-longest in program history, trailing only streaks of 24 (2003), 21 (2007) and 20 (2001). The 28 kills by Phelps are 4th-most in a match in WWU history and 2nd-most during the rally-scoring era (since 2001). Plus, it is the most kills in a match by a Viking since Marlayna Geary had 29 vs. Northwest Nazarene in 2009.
