BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University head men’s basketball coach Tony Dominguez has announced that forward KJ Bosco out of Portland Community College has signed to play with the Vikings beginning in the 2018-19 season.

Bosco (Portland, OR) will join the Vikings with two years of collegiate eligibility remaining after playing for Portland Community College the last three seasons, including a red-shirt season.

Over the course of his Portland CC career the 6-7 forward appeared in 60 games, averaging 13.4 points and 6.9 rebounds. In 31 games during his redshirt sophomore season in 2017-18, he averaged 12.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, scoring in double-digits in 22 of 31 games. He scored a season-high 28 points at Lane on Jan. 27. The versatile forward hit three-or-more 3-pointers in 9 games and overall shot 41.4% (48-for-116) from beyond the arc. Portland CC finished the season 26-6 and advanced to the Northwest Athletic Conference Final Four.

“We are thrilled about KJ to our program and what he brings to this team. He is a very versatile player at 6-8 and has the ability to stretch the floor offensively as well size to defend three different positions,” said WWU head coach Tony Dominguez. “KJ’s basketball IQ is also very high and has strong leadership qualities. He is a great compliment to the rest of our team.”

Bosco was limited to 8 games in 2016-17 due to a knee injury, but he was averaging 14.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game prior to the injury.

As a freshman in 2015-16, Bosco earned NWAC Southern Region Second Team honors averaging 14.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in 21 contests.

The product of Benson High School was prep and community college teammates with fellow WWU signee Cameron Retherford.

Bosco is the fifth of WWU’s recruiting class that was announced this week as program additions for the 2018-19 season. Forward Cameron Retherford (Portland Community College), shooting guard Tucker Eenigenburg (Bakersfield College), guard/forward Jalen Green (Lindbergh High School) and guard D’Angelo Minnis (Kentwood High School) were announced earlier this week.
