WSU’s O’ConnelI, Mata’Afa and UW’s Pettis named AP midseason All-Americans

Two Washington State Cougars and one Washington Husky have been named to the Associated Press midseason All-America team. Senior guard Cody O’Connell and junior defensive tackle Hercules Mata’Afa garnered the honors for WSU. Washington’s junior all-purpose player Dante Pettis was also named to the first team.

The team released Tuesday was selected by 16 members of the AP Top 25 voting panel.

4 other players from Pac-12 made the teams. Stanford running back Bryce Love and Utah kicker Matt Gay made the first team. USC defensive end Christian Rector and Stanford safety Justin Reid made the second team.
