Women’s golf places four on GNAC All-Academic Team

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Four members of the Western Washington University women’s golf team have been named to the 2017-18 Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
Senior Jenn Paul (Bellingham, WA) and juniors Hannah Drake (Pocatello, ID/Century), Nicole Miller(Renton, WA/Kennedy Catholic/North Idaho College) and Stephanie Sewell (Kent, WA/Kentridge) were WWU’s four academic honorees, tying Saint Martin’s for the most players represented on the GNAC All-Academic Team.
Paul was one of three players on the 16-member team to earn GNAC All-Academic acclaim for the third time in her career. Paul, who tied for 14th place at the GNAC Championships earlier this week, became the fifth Viking women’s golfer to earn three GNAC Academic awards in a career. Paul has a cumulative GPA of 3.65 as an accounting major.
Drake was named to the GNAC All-Academic team for the second time in as many years with a 3.73 GPA as a kinesiology major. Drake was WWU’s highest placer at the GNAC Championships, finishing 7th at 12-over-par 154.
Miller (3.63, Business Administration) and Sewell (3.33, Business Administration) earned GNAC All-Academic honors for the first time in their careers.
To be eligible for the GNAC All-Academic Teams, student-athletes must be of sophomore standing or higher, be in their second season of competition at their current institution and be at or above a 3.20 cumulative GPA.
The Vikings completed the 2017-18 season earlier this week finishing 3rd at the GNAC Championships.
