Whatcom County prep football season begins tonight

With seven Whatcom County teams in the Associated Press preseason state rankings, the excitement level for the start of the prep football season is pretty high. 10 of the 11 local teams hit the gridiron Friday

In the Northwest Conference action Mount Baker plays Roosevelt out of Seattle. The game is at Meridian High School while the Mountaineers have work done on their field, The game can be heard on KGMI 790AM & 96.5FM in Bellingham with coverage beginning at 6:35pm.

Elsewhere Blaine is at Nooksack Valley, Meridian travels to Anacortes while Lynden Christian plays host to Bellingham.  Lynden is at home versus Terry Fox Secondary and Sehome plays Mountlake Terrace at Civic Stadium.

In Wesco 3A play Ferndale welcomes Vancouver College to Golden Eagle Field and Squalicum clashes with Gig Harbor at Civic Stadium.

The Lummi Blackhawks had their week one opponent, Seattle Lutheran, cancel on them. Their next game is September 8th vs. top rival Neah Bay.
