BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Bellingham Bells had their eight game winning streak snapped on Friday with a 6-5 loss to the Victoria Harbourcats.

The Bells brought the tying run all the way around to third in the ninth inning but stranded runners at second and third to end the ball game.

The Bells got on the scoreboard in the second with two runs to cut the lead to 3-2.

Victoria responded though in the bottom of the third innings as Jedediah Fagg homered to left to make the lead 4-2.

The lead did not last long as the Bells scored two in the fifth inning to tie the ballgame at four with the big blow being a solo home run from Zach Needham, his second on the year.

The Harbourcats used a homer from Jason Willow to make it 5-4 and then played small ball to add yet another run in the sixth.

Bellingham had a chance to take the lead in the ninth inning as Guthrie Morrison led off the inning with a walk and came around to score, but the Bells stranded Ernie Yake at third and Jordan Stoner at second to end the game.

The Bells left 10 men on base today as they fall to 13-6 ln the year. Austin Weiermiller was a bright spot for the Bells out of the pen throwing two shutout innings of one-hit baseball while striking out three.

Victoria picked up a game on the Bells and now are 2.5 games back with a 9-7 record on the year.

The Bells will be back at it tomorrow night against Victoria at 6:35 as they look to take game two from the Harbourcats.
