Three Whatcom County high schools are WIAA spring academic State champions

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, Dairy Farmers of Washington and Les Schwab Tires have announced the Academic State Champions for the 2016-2017 spring sports season.

For the spring sports season three Whatcom County high schools were recognized. For class 1A Lynden Christian won for softball. The Sehome girls track and field team won in class 2A. And in 3A the Squalicum girls tennis team took first.

The Scholastic Awards Program recognizes the team with the highest grade point average among all Washington high schools in their enrollment classification.

The Academic State Champions for spring include the following activities: baseball, boys and girls golf, boys soccer, softball, boys and girls tennis and boys and girls track and field.
