Ski to Sea race takes place this weekend among local celebrations

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – It’s Ski to Sea weekend.

It kicks off with the Ski to Sea Block Party at Boundary Bay Brewery from five to eleven Friday night.

The Blossomtime Parade is Saturday at Noon.

It starts at the corner of Alabama and Cornwall and wraps up at the corner of State and York.

The race on Sunday includes Cross Country Skiing, Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding, Running, Road Biking, Canoeing, Cyclocross Biking, and Sea Kayaking.

Anna Rankin is the race director.

“The course is really just so seamless. I think about how lucky I am to live in Whatcom County and Bellingham every day and how beautiful it is. The course of Ski to Sea is just so mind-blowing.”

It starts at the Mount Baker Ski Area and ends at Marine Park in Fairhaven.

There are food vendors and a beer garden in Marine Park.

The Fairhaven Festival is also on Sunday.

It begins at ten in the morning and runs until seven in the evening.

There’s live music, food booths, arts & craft vendors, exhibits from nonprofits, children’s activities and a beer garden.
