Sherman: Wilson is phenomenal teammate, relationship is professional

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman says his relationship with quarterback Russell Wilson is “professional” and that his teammate is “phenomenal”. Sherman weighed in on Wilson in an interview with SportsCenter that aired Sunday on ESPN.

“We’re pros. We hang out from time to time. We get along. Everybody gets along,” Sherman told ESPN’s Josina Anderson. “But is my relationship with Russell the same as it is with Doug? Or the same as it is with Bobby? No. But is his relationship with me the same as it is with Noe or Britt? It’s just different dynamics. But as teammates, we’re phenomenal.”

The comments follow an ESPN The Magazine story by Seth Wickersham released in May that detailed the cornerback’s continuing frustration over the Seahawks’ loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX. It also raised the question about a division in the team locker room between the offense and the defense.

Sherman and teammate Michael Bennett have refuted the ESPN story.
