Seven Whatcom County teams head to the State Tournament

Seven Whatcom County teams are heading to the SunDome in Yakima this week for the 2018 State Tournament.

The Lynden girls will start the tournament for the county facing Washougal day one of the Hardwood Classic in a loser out game Wednesday morning at 10:30am. If the lady Lions win, they will advance to take on East Valley (Spokane) Thursday morning at 10:30am.

An all-Whatcom County showdown will take place between the Nooksack Valley Pioneer girls and the Meridian Trojans in a late night loser out game at 9pm. The winner of that game will advance to play Cashmere Thursday at 9pm.

The no. 1 Lynden Christian girls will get to rest day one of the Hardwood Classic before playing an evening game Thursday at 5:30pm. They will take on the winner of the Seattle Christian and Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) game Wednesday evening.

On the boys side, Mount Baker will play against Bellevue Christian at 12:15pm in a loser out game Wednesday. If the Mountaineers win, they will move on to battle Zillah at 12:15pm Thursday.

After winning every game in 1A Districts and Regionals, the Lynden Christian boys won’t start play until day two of the Hardwood Classic in which they will play a morning game Thursday at 10:30am. The Lyncs will take on the winner of the King’s Way Christian and Cascade Christian game which is taking place Wednesday at 10:30am.  The Lynden Lions will play Thursday at 5:30pm against the winner of the Fife vs. Columbia River game on Wednesday.
