The Seattle Seahawks will use the bye week to deal with injuries. Left guard Luke Joeckel will have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee this week. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll announced the news at his Monday press conference.

According to Seahawks.com, Carroll said Joeckel likely won’t be back for the Week 7 game at the New York Giants.

“He’ll get a scope on Thursday if everything works out right, ” Said Carroll. “They’re gonna try and clean him up and see how fast we get him back.”

Joeckel, who signed a 1-year free-agent deal during the off-season, has started all five games for Seattle this season. He had major knee surgery during his final year with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Carroll also said defensive lineman Michael Bennett was suffering from a plantar fascia injury and would need a couple weeks off.

D-lineman Cliff Avril missed Sunday’s game after suffering a neck injury in game 4. Carroll said the year pro had tests coming up.
