For the forth time in five years the Seahawks have traded out of the first round of the NFL Draft. Seattle did not select a player Thursday night. They instead acquired three picks via first round trades with the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers.

The Seahawks now have 10 totsl picks in the 6 remaining rounds, including 6 selections combined in rounds two and three.

Seattle moved from 26 to 31 in the real with Atlanta picking up a third rounder (95th overall) and a 7th rounder (249th). the Seahawks then struck a deal with San Francisco to move out of the first round from 31st to 34th overall. In return the
Seahawks picked up a forth rounder (111th).

By design or not, the organization added the picks without missing out on their targeted players. “We didn’t feel like we lost a player to make the moves,” said Seahawks coach Pete Carroll. “So it really kept us incentivized.”

General Manager John Schneider sounded excited about having six selection to work with on Friday during rounds 2 and 3. “We were just looking at it…it’s going to be a fun weekend.”

The Draft resumes Friday at 4:00pm with the Green Bay Packers leading off the second round followed by Seattle.
