The Seattle Seahawks made two moves Monday to help shore up their hole in the offensive line following Friday’s season ending knee injury to tackle George Fant. The Seahawks signed free-agent tackle Tyrus Thompson and acquired tackle Matt Tobin from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade.
Thompson, a sixth-round pick in the 2015 draft, is joining his 6th team after spending time with the Vikings, Jaguars, Lions, Saints and Panthers over the past two years. Carolina released the 6-foot-5, 330-pounder August 12th.

Seattle traded a 2018 fifth-round draft choice to the Eagles for Tobin and Philadelphia’s 2018 seventh-round selection. The 27-year-old played in 42 games over the past 4 seasons in Philly. He has played both guard and tackle and started 13 games in 2015.

Tackle Justin Senior and tight end Marcus Lucas were both waived/injured to make room on the 90-man roster.
Fant tore his ACL Friday night in Seattle’s 20-13 preseason win over the the Vikings. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said he was “heartbroken” about Fant’s injury and the second-year pro out of Western Kentucky will need surgery.
