Washington State wide receiver Tavares Martin Jr. will miss Saturday’s game against Colorado. The Seattle Times is reporting the junior’s one-game suspension stems from losing his temper at his teammates after the Cougars’ loss at California and missing a practice.
The receiver’s father, Tavares Martin Sr., told the Times, “He was a little angry, saying things hadn’t gone his way the last couple of games. He broke a team rule and needs to be punished for that.”
According to the story, Martin Sr. said his son apologized to Leach and the team for his “selfish attitude” and “immature behavior.”
The Spokesman Review reported that Mike Leach suspended Martin Jr. for one game for a violation of an unspecified team rule.
In seven games so far this season, Martin Jr. has 37 receptions for 502 yards and 7 touchdowns.
