The Seattle Seahawks made off-season changes to their offensive line, but they did little to impress the folks at Pro Football Focus. PFF released their rankings of all of NFL O-lines this week and Seattle is dead last at 32nd.
The Seahawks offensive line struggled in 2016, giving up 42 sacks and 111 quarterback hits. Seattle looked to improve by signing free agents Luke Joeckel and Oday Aboushi and drafting LSU center Ethan Pocic during the off-season.
Regarding the Seahawks PFF wrote, “Even with the addition of Luke Joeckel, there’s little reason to think this won’t yet again be the worst offensive line in the NFL. They finished dead last a season ago in snap-adjusted run-blocking grade and snap-adjusted pass-blocking grade. Getting PFF’s lowest-graded left tackle, George Fant, out of the starting lineup should help, but it won’t fix the unit overnight.”
The grade-based methodology used by Pro Football Focus is weighs in snap counts and performance and is then summed up across all five positions.
