BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Bellingham Police arrested a transient woman for a robbery at the Kmart store Friday morning.

Police Lieutenant Danette Beckley says 26 year old Lanisha Eskridge and a male first asked to put $780 worth of merchandise on lay-away at the store, then the pair said they would split the cost.

Eskridge then told the cashier she would take the merchandise and patted the side of her coat, implying she had a gun.

The two left and were confronted by officers behind the store.

Officers say Eskridge spat on one of them as she was being arrested.

She faces charges of robbery, theft and assault.
