No. 6 Washington loses WR Chico McClatcher to broken ankle

SEATTLE (AP) — Sixth-ranked Washington will be without wide receiver Chico McClatcher for the rest of the season after he broke his left ankle in the Huskies’ victory over Colorado.

Washington coach Chris Petersen said Monday that McClatcher will likely need surgery. McClatcher is Washington’s No. 2 receiver with 10 receptions for 128 yards this season despite playing in only three of Washington’s four games. He’s also been a threat in the run game throughout his career since he’s been used on fly sweeps.

The junior was injured in the third quarter of the 37-10 win over the Buffaloes. McClatcher was blocking downfield when he got rolled up from behind and his left leg got caught in the pile.

Petersen said there is a chance that McClatcher could get a redshirt and that the school would be looking into that option.
