Nine local hoop teams find out regional match-ups

Nine Whatcom County high school basketball teams found out their opponents and destinations for the regional round of the state tournament Sunday.

The first local team in action will be the Meridian boys in a loser-out game against Vashon Island Friday at 6:00 at Mount Vernon High School.  Friday at 8 the Lynden Christian girls take on Annie Wright at 8 at Mount Vernon.

There’s a Lynden Lion doubleheader Saturday in Mount Vernon.  The boys play Mountlake Terrace at noon in a re-match of a district game the Lions won.  The girls play West Valley of Spokane at 2:00.  Also at 2 the Meridian girls play Okanogan in a loser-out game at Wenatchee High School.  Saturday night at 6 the Lynden Christian boys play defending state champion Zillah at Davis High School in Yakima.  Also Saturday at 6 the Nooksack Valley girls play #1 seed Cashmere in Wenatchee.

Those first 7 games will all be on the radio on KPUG or KGMI.

Also Saturday night in Class 1B the Lummi boys take on Muckleshoot at 6:00 and the Lummi girls follow at 8 against Columbia Adventist. Both games are at Mount Vernon High School.
