Mt. Baker boys, Lynden and Nooksack girls are headed to State

The Mount Baker boys and Nooksack Valley girls are advancing to the State Tournament in Yakima next week after beating their opponents in double-header loser out games Friday night. The Mount Baker boys took down the Naches Valley Rangers 70-59 and the Nooksack Valley girls followed suit defeating the Port Townsend Redhawks 57-26 in a pair of Regional match-ups at Mount Vernon High School. The Lynden girls fell to W. F. West 56-43 at Tumwater High School. Though the lady Lions lost to the Bearcats, they will still move on to the State Tournament where they will play a Wednesday morning game at 10:30am. They will battle the winner of the Fife and Washougal battle happening Saturday afternoon.

The Mountaineer boys will head to the Sun Dome to take on the Bellevue Christian Vikings or the Royal Knights Wednesday at 12:15pm in a loser out game. Saturday’s 2pm match-up between the Knights and Vikings will determine who the Mountaineers will play in their first match-up of the 1A Hardwood Classic.

The Pioneers will face another Whatcom County showdown, but this time in Yakima. Wednesday at 9pm, the Nooksack Valley girls will battleĀ the loser of the Lynden Christian and Meridian Regional match-up that happens Saturday at Mount Vernon High at 12pm. That game can be heard on The Sports Leader with Mark Scholten and Dan Kaemingk on the call. Coverage begins at 11:45am with the Lynden Christian and Lynden boys following at 2pm and 6pm respectively on KPUG 1170AM, 97.9FM & KPUG1170.com.
