Meridian QB Burkett commits to EWU

Meridian quarterback Simon Burkett is heading to Cheney to play college football. The senior-to-be has committed to Eastern Washington University.

Burkett announced the decision via Twitter posting, “Committed” all is capital letters followed by hashtag GoEags. He wrote, “I has been my dream to play division 1 football my whole life and I am excited to announce that I will be fulfilling that dream by attending Eastern Washington university of a full football scholarship” in an attached message.

Scout.com lists Burkett as a two-star, 99th ranked pro-style quarterback in the country. They rank him as the 33rd overall recruit in Washington State for the class of 2018.

Burkett was selected All Conference at both quarterback and defensive back last season. He helped lead the Trojans to a 6-and-6 record in 2016.
