SEATTLE, Wash. – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:

· Chasen Bradford, RHP, recalled from AAA Tacoma.
· Roenis Elías, LHP, recalled from rehab assignment with AAA Tacoma and reinstated from the 10-day disabled list.
· Gordon Beckham, INF, optioned to AAA Tacoma.
· James Pazos, LHP, optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 8/18).

Bradford (#60) and Elías (#55) will be in uniform and available for today’s (1:10 pm PT) game vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers at Safeco Field. Elías is scheduled to be the Mariners starting pitcher in today’s series finale.

Bradford, 29, is appearing in his 3rd stint with the Mariners this season (also: 4/9-7/31 and 8/3-9). In 37 relief appearances with the Mariners this season, he is 5-0 with a 3.05 ERA (15 ER, 44.1 IP) with 32 strikeouts and 9 walks. His 44.1 innings pitched are 2nd-most among Mariners relievers (Edwin Díaz, 61.0 IP). The 6-foot-1, 230-pound right-hander has issued 1.83 walks-per-9.0-innings (9 BB, 44.1 IP), 9th-fewest among AL relievers. In 11 outings of at least 1.1 innings pitched, he is 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA (4 ER, 22.0 IP) with 12 strikeouts and 5 walks. He was optioned to AAA Tacoma on Aug. 9 and has made 3 relief appearances with the Rainiers since then, tossing 3.0 scoreless innings while striking out 1. Overall, he has recorded 4.0 scoreless innings across 4 outings with Tacoma this season. He began the season with AAA Tacoma, where he made 1 relief appearance, before being recalled by the Mariners on April 9.

Bradford was claimed off waivers by Seattle from New York-NL on Jan. 19, 2018. In parts of 2 Major League seasons with the Mets (2017) and Mariners (2018-c), he is 7-0 with a 3.35 ERA (29 ER, 78.0 IP) with 59 strikeouts and 22 walks. The native of Las Vegas, NV, was originally selected by the Mets in the 35th round of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Central Florida.

Elías, 29, was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left triceps strain on July 31 (retroactive to July 29). He appeared in 3 games, including 1 start, on a rehab assignment with AAA Tacoma, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings and striking out 4 while walking 3. He was recalled by the Mariners from Tacoma on June 1 and went 2-0 with a 2.88 ERA (8 ER, 25.0 IP) with 18 strikeouts and 8 walks in 13 games, including 1 start, prior to his DL stint.

Elías was acquired by the Mariners from Boston in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations on April 23. After reporting to AAA Tacoma, he went 2-4 with a 4.94 ERA (17 ER, 31.0 IP) with 27 strikeouts and 12 walks in 7 games (6 starts). Prior to being acquired by Seattle, he was 1-0 with 1 save and a 1.23 ERA (1 ER, 7.1 IP) with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks in 4 games with AAA Pawtucket (Boston).

The lefty was originally signed by Seattle as a minor league free agent on May 3, 2011 and made his Major League debut with the Mariners on April 3, 2014 at Oakland. Elías was acquired by the Red Sox from the Mariners on Dec. 7, 2015 along with RHP Carson Smith in exchange for LHP Wade Miley and RHP Jonathan Aro. In parts of 4 Major League seasons with the Mariners (2014-15, 2018-c) and Red Sox (2016-17), he is 17-21 with a 4.10 ERA (142 ER, 312.0 IP) with 262 strikeouts and 122 walks in 68 career games (51 starts).

Beckham, 31, went 1-for-1 as a pinch-hitter on Friday (8/17) after being recalled from AAA Tacoma prior to Friday’s game for his 3rd stint with the Mariners this season (also: 5/14-31 and 7/10-12). In 14 games with Seattle this season, he is batting .222 (8×36) with 1 run, 1 double, 1 RBI, 3 walks and 1 stolen base. In 82 games with AAA Tacoma this season, he is batting .311 (96×309) with 23 doubles, 1 triple, 9 home runs, 49 RBI, a .411 on-base percentage and a .479 slugging mark (.890 OPS).

In parts of 10 Major League seasons with Chicago-AL (2009-14, 2015), Los Angeles-AL (2014), Atlanta (2016), San Francisco (2016) and Seattle (2017-c), he is a career .239 (759×3172) hitter with 174 doubles, 5 triples, 74 home runs and 336 RBI in 978 career games. The native of Atlanta, GA, was a 1st round selection (8th overall) by the Chicago White Sox in the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Georgia.

Pazos, 27, is 3-1 with 17 holds and a 2.68 ERA (12 ER, 40.1 IP) with 35 strikeouts and 10 walks in 49 relief appearances with the Mariners this season. His 17 holds are tied for 10th-most in the American League. He has made 12 appearances since the All-Star Break, going 1-0 with 2 holds and a 3.24 ERA (3 ER, 8.1 IP) with 7 strikeouts and 5 walks. Earlier this season, the southpaw equaled the club record for consecutive relief appearances without a walk, set by Charlie Furbush in 2014. Pazos did not issue a walk in 26 straight outings, April 7 – June 12, a span of 22.1 innings pitched.

Pazos was acquired by the Mariners from New York-AL in exchange for Zack Littell (rhp) on Nov. 18, 2016. The native of Gilbert, AZ, made his Major League debut with the Yankees in 2015. In parts of 4 Major League seasons with the Yankees (2015-16) and Mariners (2017-c), he is 8-6 with 27 holds and a 3.52 ERA (40 ER, 102.1 IP) with 106 strikeouts and 38 walks in 126 career relief appearances. Pazos was originally selected by Tampa Bay in the 40th round of the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft but did not sign. He was selected and signed by the Yankees out of the 13th round of the 2012 Draft.
