The Seattle Mariners are on the road and they won’t be back home until next month. The Mariners begin a 12-game road trip in 13 days with a match-up against the Rays at Tropicana Field today.

Seattle and Tampa Bay have been stumbling in their chase after the L.A. Angels and the second American League Wildcard. The Mariners (61-61) are 1.5 games behind after going 4-and-6 in their last ten games. The Rays (60-63) are 3 games back after a 2-and-8 performance during the same time frame.

The Mariners got a much needed series victory over Baltimore at home Wednesday. Yonder Alonso hit his first home run in a Seattle uniform and tallied 3 hits in the 7-to-6 win.

Seattle will send Erasmo Ramirez (4-4, 4.73 ERA) to the mound against his former team. Seattle  traded relief pitcher Steve Cishek to Tampa for Ramirez last month. Austin Pruitt (6-3 , 5.07 ERA) gets the call for the Rays.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:10pm with coverage beginning at 3:00pm on KPUG 1170AM and 97.9FM in Bellingham.
