GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Mariners and White Sox played to a 5-5 tie before a crowd of 6,173 on Friday afternoon at Camelback Ranch. Seattle scored 4 runs in the top of the 8th to take a 5-2 lead, but Chicago responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the frame to even the score.

The White Sox wasted little time getting on the board as they took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. Yoan Moncada led off the inning with a single and later scored on Matt Davidson’s RBI-single. Chicago added a run in the 3rd on a pair of doubles.

Seattle got a run back in the 6th on Daniel Vogelbach’s 6th home run of the spring – a solo blast to right field. The Mariners plated four runs in the 8th to take a 5-2 lead. With one out, Tuffy Gosewisch singled to center field, and Mike Ford followed by drawing a walk. Pinch-hitter Danny Muno then lined a two-run double into left field. Kirk Nieuwenhuis capped the Mariners scoring by belting a two-run home run to left field, his third homer in his last four games. Chicago evened the score at 5-5 in the bottom of the 8th on a three-run home run.

In his 6th appearance, 2nd start, of the spring, Casey Lawrence gave up 2 runs on 5 hits while walking 1 and striking out 4. Marc Rzepczynski came on in relief in the 4th inning and worked a 1-2-3 frame. Dan Altavilla struck out 1 in 1.0 scoreless inning pitched. Edwin Díaz, pitching for the second day in a row, fanned each of the two batters he faced. Minor league call-up Erik Goeddel worked 1.1 scoreless innings, striking out 1. In his lone inning of work, minor league call-up Wyatt Mills surrendered three runs on 2 hits while walking 1 and striking out 1.
