ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Seattle Mariners have activated catcher Mike Zunino from the 10-day disabled list after missing the first three weeks of the season because of a strained abdominal muscle.

Seattle activated Zunino on Friday ahead of a three-game series against the Texas Rangers. Mike Marjama was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma to clear the roster spot.

Zunino was injured during batting practice the day before the regular-season opener. Zunino had performed well during spring training, hitting .395 with five home runs in 17 games.

He’s coming off a career-best 2017 season, when he retooled his swing during a stint in the minors and finished the year with a .251 batting average, 25 home runs and 64 RBIs in 124 games.

Marjama appeared in 10 games, but batted just .111.
