BELLINGHAM, Wash. – After the first 10 days of legal marijuana sales, the state will be collecting $318,000 in excise taxes.

The state Liquor Control Board figures that is Washington’s take of what’s been estimated to be $1.27 million in pot sales so far.

Marijuana is taxed at 25 percent at each link of it’s supply chain, and according to the Seattle Times, most of the money the state collects is to be set aside for prevention, research, and health funding.
