FERNDALE, Wash. – A man is dead after being hit by a train in Ferndale.

It happened on the Railroad Bridge above the Nooksack River around 5:00 last night.

Sam Taylor with the City of Ferndale says they don’t know who the man is or why he went onto the bridge.

Ferndale Police and BNSF are investigating.

The accident blocked Second Avenue for several hours and backed up traffic in Ferndale, all the way to I-5.
