Lynn Hickey named AD at Eastern Washington

CHENEY, Wash. (AP) — Eastern Washington has chosen Lynn Hickey to be its new athletic director.

School President Mary Cullinan said Wednesday that Hickey, who was brought in as interim athletic director 10 weeks ago, is now the school’s permanent AD.

Hickey was selected after a nationwide search that produced 50 candidates. She replaces Bill Chaves, who left in January to become athletic director at North Dakota.

Hickey spent 18 years in charge of the athletic department at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she oversaw the addition of football, women’s soccer and golf programs.

Hickey coached the Texas A&M women’s basketball team to an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 1994 then moved into sports administration.
