Jody Wynn introduced as new UW women’s hoops coach

Jody Wynn called her new job an “incredible honor” and an “amazing opportunity”. The 43-year-old was introduced Monday as the new coach of the Washington Husky women’s basketball team.

She replaces Mike Neighbors who left in late March for the head coaching job at Arkansas. Neighbors went 98-and-41 over the last 4 years at Montlake leading the Dawgs to the Final Four in 2016 and the Sweet 16 in 2017.

Wynn did not sound dissuaded by her first task at Washington, having to replace Naismith player of the year Kelsy Plum and All-American Chantel Osahor.

“There’s  some big shoes to fill, but it’s not going to be by one, it’s going to be all. We have a system, an equal opportunity system…let’s call it that for now,” said Wynn. “We’re excited to have a clean slate with the young women.”

This past season Wynn took Long Beach State to their first NCAA appearance since 1991-92. She posted a 69-and-20 record over the last 3 years.
