SEATTLE, Wash. – Seattle Mariners left-handed pitcher James Paxton has been named co-American League Player of the Week for July 24th-30th. It’s the second such honor in his career after taking the honors back in April.
Paxton is the first pitcher in club history to earn 2 AL Player of the Week honors in a single season. He is the first Mariner to do so since Kyle Seager was named AL Player of the Week twice in 2014.
Paxton went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA with 18 strikeouts and 0 walks in 2 starts vs. Boston (July 24) and the New York Mets (July 30). He allowed just 10 hits in his 13.0 innings of work.
Paxton shares this week’s honors with Texas Rangers 3rd baseman Adrian Beltre, who tallied his 3,000th career hit on July 30.
