Lynden girls and Mt. Baker boys win; Nooksack girls defeat Meridian

Day one of the State Tournament gets underway today as seven Whatcom County teams head to Yakima to compete at the SunDome against schools from all around Washington. The Lynden girls start the day off taking on the Washougal Panthers in a loser out game with coverage starting at 10:15am and 10:30am tip-off on KPUG. After that coverage will carry over to the Mount Baker Mountaineer boys battling for their life against the Bellevue Christian Vikings at 12:15pm.

Later tonight, it’s an all-Whatcom County showdown between the Nooksack Valley and Meridian girls in a loser out game. Coverage for that starts at 8:45pm with a 9pm tip-off on The Sports Leader. UPDATE – 12pm

The Lynden girls take the first win for Whatcom County teams and beat Washougal 55-46. They will advance to play East Valley (Spokane) tomorrow at 10:30am. Tune into that game with coverage starting at 10:15am on KGMI 790AM, 96.5FM and KGMI.com.

The Mount Baker boys come back to win it against Bellevue Christian 62-57 and move on to face Zillah tomorrow at 12:15pm. Tune into that game with coverage starting at 12pm on KPUG 1170AM, 97.9FM and KPUG1170.com.

The Nooksack Valley girls sent Meridian home after a 54-36 win over the Trojans Wendesday night. The Pioneers advance to take on Cashmere in another late night battle at 9pm tonight. Tune into that game with coverage starting at 8:45pm on KGMI 790AM, 96.5FM and KGMI.com.
