Bow down to Washington. The UW Husky basketball programs have made draft history. The University of Washington is the first school to produce the top pick in the NBA and WNBA drafts in the same academic year as Markelle Fultz joined Kelsey Plum as the first overall pick.

Fultz, who starred for the Dawgs for one year at Montlake, went number 1 in Thursday’s NBA draft. The point guard was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers. Kelsey Plum, the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer at Washington, was the first pick of the WNBA draft by the San Antonio Stars in April.

Both Plum and Fultz are the first No. 1 draft picks in Washington basketball history.
