Four players have been named All-Stars for their accomplishments during the 2018 season and will represent the Bellingham Bells in the 2018 West Coast League All-Star Game, the league announced today. This year’s All-Star Game will be hosted by the Port Angeles Lefties in Port Angeles, Washington on July 17th, 2018.

Matt James (Catcher), Ernie Yake (Shortstop), Taylor Davis (Pitcher), and Justin Armbruester (Pitcher) will take the field for the North Division during this year’s game and proudly represent the Bellingham area.  All four players were a major part of the team’s success during the first half of the season, in which the Bells clinched the first-half North Division title & clinched a playoff spot.

“We are thrilled to have four players selected to the All-Star team,” Bells general manager Stephanie Morrell said.  “They are all very deserving of this honor and we know they will represent our team and our city very well.”

The 2018 All-Stars from the Bellingham Bells include:

Justin Armbruester – Pitcher, Pacific Lutheran University

Armbruester, the current WCL strikeouts leader, has been a dominant force for the Bells pitching staff, contributing both as a starter & as a reliever. Justin is known for his ability to get guys out and has an impressive slider as part of his arsenal.

Taylor Davis – Pitcher, Gonzaga University

As the Bells’ closer this season, Davis has been outstanding, collecting 6 saves while maintaining a pristine 0.61 ERA.  Davis is known for his ability to get the team out of some major jams and has only walked 5 batters on the season.

Matt James – Catcher, Notre Dame University

James has brought some offensive firepower to the Bells’ lineup, leading the team in average & RBI, as well as being tied for team leader in home runs.  Currently hitting .310 with 16 RBI on the season, James has been a big part of the Bells’ early season success.

Ernie Yake – Shortstop, Gonzaga University

Nominated to the WCL All-Star Team for the second consecutive season, Yake is known for his above average defensive skills and ability to get on base.  Yake has only one error on the season and has maintained a season batting average of .286 with 7 RBI, 4 doubles and 2 triples.
