Ferndale qualified for the World Series in Clemens, North Carolina by winning the Cal Ripken Northwest Regional 12U 60′ Northwest Regional Tournament Championship in Meridian, Idaho last weekend.

Manager Bill Hatchett told KPUG he’s got a team that works hard and gets along.

“We’re a small town here in Ferndale and we’ve kind of caught lightning in a bottle with these kids…some really good athletes,” said Hatchett. “One thing we’re really proud about is they are not one sport athletes, they all play multiple sports.”

The team has set up a gofundme page to help with the travel expenses to get to North Carolina. The squad is also associated with the Ferndale Youth Sports and donations can be made to the non-profit organization.

The Cal Ripken World Series begins August 1st.
